Gratiude Journal

Sun Poem

This week in Room 5 we are writing a sun poem. It is really fun.

The sun is a ball of fire 
burning in the sky 
It is an oven 
sizzling in the day light.

The sun is a ball on fire 
boiling in space. 
It is a BBQ 
cooking steak for dinner.

The sun is a yellow ham ball on fire
It is cooking people slow like a snail 
and cracking their skin.

How to make a:

How to make an Eel hand line

You need 50 pound braided line, normal line, a swivel, heavy sinkers, hand casters and small hooks.

The goal is to catch Eels with the hand line and teach you how to make this.

1. You first need to get the hand caster out of the packet and wrap the normal line around the hand caster.

2. Put the sinker on the line and tie the swivel onto the line.

3. Tie about 15 cm of the 50 pound braid on the other side of the swivel.

4. Tie the hook on the 50 pound braid.

5. You can attach a handle on to the hand caster.

6. Go to a creek were there are eels and put some raw meat on the hook and drape the hand line next to a bank were there aren't strong currents.

7. You should catch something if you do you can eat it, keep it as bait or release it. It can be used for other fishing like saltwater.

Fair Project

This Term in Room 5 we are doing projects for the school fair. Liam, Harrison and I are doing bottle fish traps they come with some line attached to them.  They will be $2.50  if you want to get some.  The work for catching shrimp, baby eels, sprats and little fish . All we need to make them with is a plastic bottle, some fishing line and a knife.

Fish Cake

For writing in Room 5 we are doing recipes. My recipe is a fish cake. The recipe has black pepper they look nice if you like fish. They look like this.

How to make Fish cake

Ingredients

Potatoes

Spring onions

Fish-snapper is good

Black pepper

eggs

1.get some potatoes and then take off the skin and boil them. Then mash them.

2. put the fish in spring onions and put milk in a shallow dish. Dran the fish and spring onions gently mix the potatoes avoiding breaking up the fish to much.

3. Along with the sweet corn chetorer and a generous grind of a little bit of black pepper into 6-8 patties. Pour egg on the plate and flower on the other dish. Dip the patties in the egg and then  put the patties in the fridge for about half an hour.

4.lower it onto a pan and cook for 5-7 min until the bottom is golden and heat it all the way through.

For Pūmanawa i am doing cartooning with Mrs Drummond and Mr Drummond we had to pick two animals and draw mix and draw them. My one was a Monkey and lion his name was Lunkey.
It was really fun.

This year me, Liam and Harrison did pixel fish. our first fish was an king fish. We are going to show them to the class we have done 6 pixel fish. We coped a real king fish.

Egg keeping

This term we did egg sitting, my egg was called Eddie. The point of this was to see how hard  it is to keep a child alive it was part of keeping our self safe. it was really fun we had to take it every were if not we had to find a baby sitter to look after it.

Maori art

For art this term we are doing Maori art. We had to choose a Maori photo. So I choose the moon so I cooped the face and added the mountains for a background. 

Science Project

On Friday and Monday we did a project.  there were four options of bark, 
and, cotton balls and paper tows.

Me and Liam m got the best in the glass Matthew and Liam tp got second best in the class.

chess

Chess on Tuesday term 2 I went to a chess tournament it was really fun. I got 2 and a half points so I won 2 games and got a draw there is a table that you half to sit at.

New playground

At school a new playground is getting built. it has new red monkey bars and a climbing wall, it has great equipment.

Science in a van

Science in a van

On science week we had some people come in to show the year 6-4 some science. one of my favourite parts was when they got a hot can and put it in cold water the when they toke it out of the water it was scrunched up into A ball.

 

Bro shores

This term we did bro shores about ANZAC day we had to pick A picture. Me and Harrison picked the picture about Vincent John Baird Hall. It was really fun.

  

country study

For Term 2 we did a country study we could choose a country and study it, I chose Scotland. We had to pick five towns and mark them on the map and we got a pitcher of the worlds map and mark our country on the map. After we were done we had to colour it in. It was really fun.
